River Plate beat Estudiantes 3-1 to grab a share of first place in the Argentine first-division championship.
River Plate and Newell's Old Boys each have 17 points after eight games.
Juan Cominges scored in the fifth minute for Estudiantes off a powerful right-footer from just outside the area. But Gonzalo Higuain equalized for River with a long-distance kick in the 18th while Cristian Tula and Ernesto Farias added scores in the 48th and 90th minutes respectively.
Newell's beat Velez Sarsfield 1-0 on Saturday and Boca Juniors has 16 points after a 3-0 victory over Racing Club on Sunday. Gimnasia de Jujuy remained in contention with 15 points after beating Colon 2-0. Colon also has 15 points.
