Coach Larry Brown reaches landmark

Larry Brown became the fourth coach in league history to win 1,000 games as the New York Knicks beat the Atlanta Hawks 105-94 on Friday for their sixth straight victory.

Brown, who is 1,000-762 in 23 seasons as an NBA coach, joined Lenny Wilkens, Don Nelson and Pat Riley as the only coaches to reach 1,000 victories. All four coached the Knicks at some point in their careers.

The Knicks have won six straight for the first time since a seven-game winning streak from Dec. 22, 2000-Jan. 7, 2001.

Jamal Crawford led New York (13-21) with 23 points. Stephon Marbury continued his strong play during the winning streak with 19 points and nine assists. Nate Robinson added 17 points, including 11 in the first half.

Joe Johnson had 19 points for Atlanta (9-25), which has lost eight of its last 11 games. Al Harrington and Zaza Pachulia each had 18 for the Hawks.

Bucks 103, Bobcats 102

At Charlotte, North Carolina, T.J. Ford's driving layup with 15 seconds left led Milwaukee over undermanned Charlotte.

The Bucks blew an 18-point, second-quarter lead against the Bobcats, who were missing six players to injury, including three starters. But Milwaukee closed the game on 9-2 run to improve to 13-0 in games decided by six points or fewer.

Michael Redd scored 26 points, Bobby Simmons added 20 and rookie Andrew Bogut had 18 points and a career high-tying 17 rebounds for the Bucks, who overcame 23 turnovers.

Gerald Wallace had 21 points, a career-high 15 rebounds and a team record-tying eight steals for Charlotte. Raymond Felton added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists as the Bobcats lost for the sixth time in seven games.

Wizards 94, Pacers 85

At Indianapolis, Gilbert Arenas scored 18 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter to lead Washington over Indiana.

Caron Butler added 24 points and eight rebounds for Washington, which has won two straight games.

Jermaine O'Neal led the Pacers with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jeff Foster added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The score was tied at 80 before baskets by Arenas and Antonio Daniels and two free throws by Arenas gave the Wizards an 86-80 lead. Arenas hit a jumper with 1:20 left and the shot clock winding down to make the score 88-80 and put the game out of reach.

Timberwolves 103, Nuggets 89

At Minneapolis, Kevin Garnett had a season-high 31 points, on 14-for-17 shooting, and 15 rebounds to help Minnesota thrash Denver and even its record.

Wally Szczerbiak, who made eight of his final 10 field goals, added 28 points and spurred the Timberwolves on a decisive 20-4 run that closed the third quarter. Rookie Rashad McCants chipped in 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting and six rebounds.

Carmelo Anthony, held in check for most of the night by Trenton Hassell, scored eight points in the fourth period to finish with 21 for the Nuggets. Kenyon Martin returned after a one-game bout with back spasms to score 14 points, and Andre Miller also had 14.

Hornets 90, Kings 76

At Norman, Oklahoma, David West scored 19 points and Rasual Butler added a season-high 16 to help New Orleans avoid a fourth-quarter collapse to Sacramento in another home away from home.

Butler hit two 3-pointers during a 16-4 run that extended the Hornets' lead to 79-57 early in the fourth quarter. Sacramento pulled within 83-70 on Jason Hart's 3-pointer, but Jackson Vroman scored four straight points and J.R. Smith added a 3-pointer to restore the 20-point lead.

The game -- relocated from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. -- was played at the University of Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Center because of a conflict with a Bon Jovi concert rehearsal at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.

Grizzlies 81, Nets 69

At Memphis, Tennessee, Mike Miller had 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Memphis used good guard play to beat New Jersey.

Bobby Jackson scored 17 points for Memphis. Eddie Jones added 12 and Shane Battier finished with 11 as the Grizzlies won for the ninth time in 11 games overall and their sixth straight at home.

Memphis built its advantage with a 21-0 run spanning the second and third quarters. That built its lead to 24 early in the third.

New Jersey, playing without starter Richard Jefferson, lost its second straight after a 10-game winning streak. Vince Carter had 14 points for the Nets, while Jason Kidd and Marc Jackson each scored 10. Carter had scored 20 or more in 12 straight games.

76ers 125, Celtics 124, 3OT

At Philadelphia, Chris Webber had 31 points and 13 rebounds, and Allen Iverson scored 33 points to give Philadelphia a triple-overtime victory over Boston.

Ricky Davis scored 33 points and Mark Blount had 27 for the Celtics.

Samuel Dalembert had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Kyle Korver added 12 points -- including his biggest 3-pointer of the season -- as the Sixers avoided dropping two games under .500 for the first time since Dec. 9.

With the Sixers ahead 125-124 and only seconds left in the third overtime, Blount grabbed a defensive rebound and looked down the court for an open man, only to have Webber reach around and strip the ball.

Trail Blazers 113, Magic 108

At Portland, Oregon, Juan Dixon scored 25 points, reserve Sebastian Telfair added 21, and Portland won its second straight after a six-game losing streak.

Zach Randolph scored 14 of his 19 points in the first quarter for the Blazers, who won their second straight.

Hedo Turkoglu had 27 points for the Magic, who were missing the suspended players Steve Francis and Keyon Dooling. Dwight Howard had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Orlando, which has lost six of seven. Jameer Nelson added 19 points and 13 assists.

Heat 117, SuperSonics 104

At Seattle, Dwyane Wade recorded his second triple-double in two weeks with 15 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 14 assists, and Miami beat Seattle.

After dropping the first two games of their season-high, seven-game road trip, the Heat have won the last three, this time with an impressive offensive performance against the league's worst defense.

Shaquille O'Neal finished with 16 points, including four dunks, and was 6-for-7 on free throws. James Posey tied a season high with 19 points, and Jason Williams also had 19. Antoine Walker and Alonzo Mourning added 15 and 12, respectively, off the bench. Mourning had five blocks.

Rashard Lewis followed up his 45 points on Wednesday with 33 for Seattle and Luke Ridnour scored 21.
