Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored the winner in the 83rd minute and Middlesbrough twice rallied to beat Fulham 3-2 in the English Premier League on Sunday.
Collins John and Papa Boupa Diop had twice given Fulham the lead, but 'Boro hit back with goals from James Morrison, Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Hasselbaink.
Fulham, which complained that Yakubu's equalizer in the 79th was offside as he slid to tap in Hasselbaink's shot, also hit the post through American international Brian McBride.

The victory lifted 'Boro up two places to 11th, while Fulham remains 14th, two points above the relegation zone.
In Sunday's other Premier League game, Anton Ferdinand equalized in the 90th and West Ham drew 1-1 at Tottenham.
The brother of England and Manchester United defender Rio, Ferdinand headed home in front of the Spurs goal after the home defense failed to clear a corner from Paul Konchesky.
Egypt Striker Ahmed Mido scored in the 16th when he jumped between Hammers defenders Ferdinand and Tomas Repka to net with a looping header from just inside the area.
Tottenham moved up one spot to sixth, while the Hammers climbed two places to eighth.
England goalkeeper Paul Robinson denied the Hammers in the second half when he pushed a rising, close-range shot from former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham over the bar.
Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas missed the target from close range with a minute to go.
"If you don't kill a side off this can always happen, and I think in the second half we didn't kill them off," Spurs manager Martin Jol said. "But [West Ham] were very ambitious. You always had a feeling it could happen but for it to happen like this is a bit harsh.
"We have to learn from this. Normally we'd have got this victory but today wasn't our day. Everyone is very disappointed but I think [West Ham] probably deserved something from this game."
On Saturday, defending champion Chelsea increased its lead to nine points by beating Newcastle 3-0, while second-place Wigan saw its six-game winning streak end with a 3-2 loss at home to Arsenal.
Manchester United moved up to third with a 3-1 victory at Charlton, while Liverpool moved into ninth with a 3-0 triumph over Portsmouth.
Aston Villa won 3-1 at last-place Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion outplayed Everton 4-0 to climb above the Toffees and out of the relegation zone, and Manchester City and Blackburn drew 0-0.
Yesterday's match was Birmingham-Bolton.
Rudolf Skacel scored his 11th goal of the season to earn Hearts a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen.
Hearts is two points behind leader Celtic after Graham Rix's first match in charge following last month's surprise departure of George Burley.
Jamie Smith opened the scoring for Aberdeen in the 13th minute when he hit the target from 14m after being set up by Richie Byrne and Scott Muirhead.
Hearts leveled in the 64th when Skacel's 25m shot took a deflection off Aberdeen defender Gary Dempsey and flew over goalkeeper Ryan Esson at Pittodrie.
On Saturday, Celtic cruised to a 3-0 victory over Rangers thanks to strikes by John Hartson, Bobo Balde and Aiden McGeady. Gordon Strachan's Celtic has 38 points from 15 games, Hearts has 36.
Defending champion Rangers is 15 points off the lead in fourth place.
Also Saturday, third-place Hibernian surrendered a 2-0 lead at home to Falkirk to lose 3-2 to be on 31 points. Livingston moved away from last place with its first victory of the season by winning 1-0 at Dunfermline. Pars is now bottom of the standings.
Motherwell won 1-0 at Dundee United, while Kilmarnock and Inverness drew 2-2.
Fernando Baiano and Fabian Canobbio both scored and Celta Vigo downed Atletico Madrid 2-1 to move into third place.
Baiano scored his sixth goal of the season in the 27th minute at Celta's Balaidos stadium, beating charging Atletico goalkeeper Leo Franco. The Brazilian striker's initial shot was blocked by a defender but the striker calmly chipped the rebound into the net.
Uruguay midfielder Canobbio doubled Celta's lead in the 54th minute with a floated free kick from just outside the area which Franco could only tip onto the crossbar and into the net.
Spain international Antonio Lopez reduced the deficit seven minutes later with a powerful header from Ariel Ibagaza's corner.
Also, Deportivo La Coruna won 3-0 at Racing Santander, Valencia defeated Cadiz 1-0, last-place Athletic Bilbao lost to visiting Alaves 2-0, Espanyol beat Mallorca 2-0, and Malaga downed Real Sociedad 3-1.
On Saturday, Ronaldinho scored twice to help FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and move into first place for the first time this season.
Barcelona, which has 25 points from 12 games, is ahead of Osasuna on goal difference. Celta has 23 points, two more than Real Madrid and three more than Villarreal, Deportivo and Sevilla.
Deportivo took the lead in the 17th minute in Santander when striker Diego Tristan turned home Joan Capdevila's cross from the left.
In the 54th, Santander defender Jose Moraton inadvertently headed Pedro Munitis' free kick backward, off the post and into the net to double Deportivo's lead.
Uruguayan substitute Sebastian Taborda headed the third goal from Juan Carlos Valeron's cross in the 73rd minute for his first Spanish league goal since he joined Deportivo from Defensor in August.
Left winger Vicente Rodriguez scored in the 82nd minute to lead Valencia over Cadiz and end the club's four-game winless streak.
The Spain international angled a low free kick from outside the area past goalkeeper Armando Riveiro at Cadiz's Ramon de Carranza stadium, giving the 2002 and 2004 champion its first victory since beating Real Madrid on Oct. 23.
Both teams ended the game with 10 men. Valencia lost Spain defender Carlos Marchena in the 66th minute, while Cadiz striker Oli Alvarez followed 12 minutes later.
Valencia rose to eighth place in the standings with 19 points from 12 games, while Cadiz is 13th with 13 points and without a win in four games.
In a match between the two bottom teams, Alaves forward Nene scored in the seventh minute and striker Rodolfo Bodipo in the 90th, leaving Bilbao without a win since the opening day of the season in August.
Bilbao's defeat spoiled coach Javier Clemente's first appearance at the club's San Mames stadium since he took charge for his third spell last month.
It was Clemente's 185th game in charge of the Basque team, equaling a club record set in the 1940s by Juanito Urquizu.
Bilbao, whose midfielder Fran Yeste missed a late penalty, remained in last place with seven points from 12 games.
Espanyol ended an eight-game winless run and moved out of the relegation zone with a comfortable victory over Mallorca.
Striker Raul Tamudo scored the first goal with a 40th-minute penalty, awarded after a foul by Mallorca defender Mark Iuliano.
The team's other striker, Luis Garcia, scored the second against his former club from a pass by Spain midfielder Ivan de La Pena two minutes later.
Mallorca's other Italian player, midfielder Cristiano Doni, was sent off in the 86th minute.
Malaga scored three times in the second half against Sociedad to end a three-game winless run.
Defender Cesar Navas headed in a goal in the 62nd minute, substitute Antonio Hidalgo rifled a second 12 minutes later and Portuguese forward Edgar Carvalho added the third in the 77th.
Sociedad's substitute Oscar De Paula reduced the deficit in the 78th.
Luca Toni scored two goals, and Fiorentina ended AC Milan's eight-match winning streak in the Serie A with a 3-1 win.
Milan slipped five points behind league leader Juventus and is now tied for second with Fiorentina, which barely escaped relegation last season. Juventus, which beat AS Roma 4-1 Saturday, has 33 points.
Toni, who is expected to lead Italy at the next year's World Cup finals, scored the first goal in the 10th minute at Artemio Franchi stadium in Florence and added another in the 86th.
"We did something great against Milan, it was another fantastic day," said Toni, who transferred to Fiorentina from Palermo in the off season.
Denmark international Martin Jorgensen scored for Fiorentina in the opening minute of the second half, while Alberto Gilardino netted Milan's only goal in the 24th.
Toni scored both goals with precise headers on apparent defensive mishaps by the Milan side to improve his season total to 15.
Toni's second goal came minutes after the referee disallowed a diving header by Gilardino for a questionable foul.
Milan's second loss of the season and the unimpressive performance of several key players could be trouble for coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match at Fenerbahce.
"We were penalized by the referee decision because Gilardino's disallowed goal was regular and it meant 2-2," Ancelotti said.
Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli praised Toni's scoring spree and said that without his goals Fiorentina could hardly be in the same position.
"Certainly teammates help him, providing good assists. I insist that our goal is to avoid relegation. I'm serious about that," Prandelli said.
Also Sunday, Livorno beat Empoli 2-0 in a Tuscan derby to lift itself to 21 points; Palermo rallied to 2-2 at Treviso after giving up both goals in the first five minutes; Lecce stunned Siena 3-0 to leave the bottom place in the table to Cagliari, which slumped to a 3-1 loss at Reggina; Sampdoria scored second-half goals within two minutes to beat Lazio 2-0 and stay in the upper half of the standings; and Chievo Verona and Ascoli drew 1-1.
Veteran Cristiano Liucarelli, last season's top Serie A striker, netted one of Livorno's goals or his sixth this season.
Brazilian Reginaldo beat Palermo defense twice in the opening minutes, but Treviso was unable to defend a would-be second win.
Sampdoria got goals from veterans Francesco Flachi and Aimo Diana.
Lecce ended a scoring drought by landing three goals on Siena. Mirko Vucinic, Cedric Konan and Giuseppe Cozzolino scored for the southern team.
Cagliari, which has changed four coaches so far this season, once again missed its first win and slipped to last place.
Sergei Barbarez scored one goal and set up another and Hamburger SV beat Duisburg 2-0 to keep pace with the other Bundesliga leaders.
Barbarez scored his first in the 35th minute with a header. His quick 45th-minute free kick caught Duisburg napping and set up Benny Lauth, who finished with a running chip over the goalkeeper.
Hamburg moved within one point of second-place Werder Bremen and six behind Bayern Munich, both winners on Saturday.
"We're in third place and that's good enough for the Champions League. If we keep playing like this, we will make it," Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart said.
The Dutchman's return from a three-match suspension clearly lifted Hamburg, which wasted chances to turn the match against 17th-place Duisburg into a rout.
VfB Stuttgart was held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Hannover 96, a result unlikely to help embattled coach Giovanni Trapattoni.
Hamburg has been beaten just once all year, including German Cup and international matches, due to a defense that has yielded just a league-low six goals in 13 matches. But its forwards have been ineffective with just five goals before the match, all but one by Barbarez.
"Of course I'm especially happy the two up front finally scored -- we knew they would break out sometime," Hamburg coach Thomas Doll said.
Trapattoni has been told by management that Stuttgart (3-8-2) needs 10 points from its last five matches before the winter break to save his job.
"That's realistic -- since September, October, I see a lot of improvement," Trapattoni said.
Denmark international Jon Dahl Tomasson twice put Stuttgart ahead with goals in the 11th and 68th minutes, but Vahid Hashemian scored in the 58th and Chavdar Yankow added another in the 68th for Hannover.
Just before the final whistle, Hannover's Hanno Balitsch fell over Silvio Meisnner in the area on a free kick and the Stuttgart players loudly demanded a penalty.
"I wouldn't have complained if it had been called," Balitsch said.
Peter Nuerurer's debut as Hannover's coach ended a nine-match losing streak for the team.
Stuttgart was booed by 38,000 spectators at Gottlieb-Daimler stadium. The team's fans have complained over Trapattoni's defensive style after years of having an attack-minded side.
Sporting beat Penafiel 1-0 on a goal by striker Liedson Muniz, passing Benfica for fifth place and keeping pace with the top four in the first division.
Braga beat Benfica 3-2 on Saturday to remain atop the Portuguese league, two points ahead of Porto and Nacional, and four ahead of Setubal and Sporting. Porto won 5-1 over Academica on Saturday while Nacional won 2-0 at Rio Ave and Setubal won 3-0 at Naval on Sunday.
Liedson's goal, his sixth of the league season, came in the 59th minute of a lackluster match where Sporting struggled to overcome last-place Penafiel, which has allowed a league-worst 19 goals this season.
On Saturday, Maxi Bevacqua scored twice in eight minutes, his last in second-half injury time, to rally Braga and overcome its only loss of the season in the previous round.
US track and field athletes have about four dozen pieces to choose from when assembling their uniforms at the Olympics. The one grabbing the most attention is a high-cut leotard that barely covers the bikini line and has triggered debate between those who think it is sexist and others who say they do not need the Internet to make sure they have good uniforms. Among those critical or laughing at the uniforms included Paralympian Femita Ayanbeku, sprinter Britton Wilson and even athletes from other countries such as Britain’s Abigail Irozuru, who wrote on social media: “Was ANY female athlete consulted in
Four-time NBA all-star DeMarcus Cousins arrived in Taiwan with his family early yesterday to finish his renewed contract with the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the T1 League. Cousins initially played a four-game contract with the Leopards in January. On March 18, the Taoyuan-based team announced that Cousins had renewed his contract. “Hi what’s up Leopard fans, I’m back. I’m excited to be back and can’t wait to join the team,” Cousins said in a video posted on the Leopard’s Facebook page. “Most of all, can’t wait to see you guys, the fans, next weekend. So make sure you come out and support the Beer
Forget Real Madrid, Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain, the world’s best soccer team — statistically speaking — might be a little-known outfit from the closed central Asian nation of Turkmenistan. Founded last year, Arkadag, named in honor of former Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, have been unstoppable, notching up 36 consecutive domestic victories in a run still ongoing. The side have not lost a single competitive match and swept to a league and cup double in their inaugural season — success unthinkable almost anywhere else. However, in Turkmenistan, it could hardly have gone any other way. The energy-rich country is one of the most closed
Former US Masters champion Zach Johnson was left embarrassed after a foul-mouthed response to ironic cheers from spectators after a triple bogey at Augusta National on Friday. Johnson, the 2007 Masters winner, missed the cut after his three-over-par round of 75 left him on seven-over 151 for 36 holes, his six on the par-three 12th playing a big role in his downfall. Television footage showed Johnson reacting to sarcastic cheers and applause when he tapped in for the triple bogey by yelling: “Oh fuck off.” Such a response would be considered bad form in any golf tournament, but is particularly out of keeping
