On Friday, flyhalf Elton Flatley was ruled out of the Auckland match because of lingering concerns over his blurred vision and past concussions.
Wallaby coach Eddie Jones said Saturday that Giteau was improving, but would not be fit in time to travel to Auckland with the team on Thursday.
"Matt showed an enormous amount of courage to get through the test in Perth and while he's made some improvements, it's not enough to ensure he'll be available for selection," said Jones.
Hooker Stephen Moore is now the main concern for the Wallabies with an injury to his lower leg. Moore complained of discomfort in his leg during training Friday but had x-rays yesterday clearing him of any structural damage.
Daniel Vickerman (shoulder) and David Lyons (groin) are both unavailable for the match will undergo surgery. Chris Latham has also been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The Wallabies will name their team to play New Zealand on Wednesday.
