Mavericks outrun Timberwolves

Jason Terry scored 12 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and dished out 12 assists for the Dallas Mavericks, who pulled away from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 102-93 victory on Sunday.

Dirk Nowitzki added 21 points and 10 rebounds, while reserve Marquis Daniels scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth, and Josh Howard finished with 15 points. Dallas went 12-for-13 from the free throw line in the final period after going 8-for-16 over the first three.

Kevin Garnett finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds and six assists for the Timberwolves, while Trenton Hassell had 19 points and eight rebounds.

Rockets 111, Kings 96

At Sacramento, California, Tracy McGrady scored 22 points and David Wesley added 21 to help the Rockets win their fourth straight.

Reserve Mike James added 20 points and Yao Ming scored 17 as Houston ended an 11-game losing streak in Sacramento. The Rockets hadn't won in Arco Arena since a 107-93 victory on March 28, 1999.

Houston's last four wins have come against four of the best five teams in the Western Conference -- Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix and Sacramento.

Peja Stojakovic had 21 points and Cuttino Mobley added 20 as the Kings had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Clippers 83, Bulls 78

At Los Angeles, Elton Brand scored six of his 20 points in the final 2 1/2 minutes and grabbed 11 rebounds for Los Angeles.

Corey Maggette had 19 points for the Clippers, who won despite blowing a 15-point lead.

Eddy Curry had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who have lost nine of their last 10 against the Clippers and five straight in Los Angeles.

Raptors 128, 76ers 110

At Toronto, Donyell Marshall tied the NBA record with 12 3-pointers and the Toronto Raptors finished with a league-record 21. Marshall was 12-for-19 from 3-point range and finished with a career-high 38 points to help the Raptors set a franchise record for points.

The Raptors, 21-for-34 from 3-point range, broke the previous NBA mark of 19 3-pointers set by Atlanta in a victory in Dallas on Dec. 17, 1996.

The 76ers repeatedly left Marshall open in the corner as Marshall fell one short of breaking the record set by Kobe Bryant for the Los Angeles Lakers against Seattle on Jan. 7, 2003.

The 11-year veteran tried to surpass Bryant's record in the final 3 minutes, but one attempt rimmed in and out and he missed another.

Marshall left to a standing ovation with 17.5 seconds left. His previous career high for points was 37 against Milwaukee on Feb. 23, 2000.

Allen Iverson had 32 points for the 76ers.

Pistons 64, Jazz 62

At Auburn Hills, Michigan, Richard Hamilton scored 15 points and Detroit overcome 0-for-15 field goal shooting in the fourth quarter for their ninth straight home win.

The teams combined for an NBA-record 18 points in the fourth quarter, breaking the mark of 19 set by Miami and Toronto in the fourth quarter on Feb. 2, 2004.

The 126 total points ranks as the sixth-lowest scoring game in NBA history.

The league low for combined scoring is 119 by Boston (62) and Milwaukee (57) in 1955.

Andrei Kirilenko led Utah with 27 points.

SuperSonics 90, Knicks 80

At New York, Rashard Lewis put Seattle ahead for good on a 3-pointer with 2:41 left, and the SuperSonics became the first visiting team to win at Madison Square Garden in more than a month.

Lewis scored 23 points, Ray Allen had 17 and Antonio Daniels 11 for the Sonics.

Stephon Marbury and Tim Thomas had 20 points each for New York. The Knicks had their seven-game home winning streak snapped, losing for just the second time in their last seven games overall.

Nets 98, Magic 82

At Orlando, Florida, Vince Carter scored 33 points and Jacque Vaughn added 22 to help New Jersey beat Orlando.

The Nets took advantage of sloppy ballhandling by the Magic in the second half to win for just the second time in six games. Jason Kidd added 14 points and 10 assists for New Jersey, which shot 58 percent (21-of-36) in the final two periods.

Grant Hill, who missed the three previous games because of a shin injury, and Hedo Turkoglu had 23 points apiece for the Magic.

Celtics 105, Wizards 101

At Boston, Ricky Davis converted a three-point play with 21.1 left and Boston overcame a 10-point deficit to improve to 7-1 since trading for Antoine Walker.

Paul Pierce scored 20 points for the Celtics, who finished a six-game homestand at 5-1. Larry Hughes scored 26 points for Washington.

Cavaliers 98, Pacers 86

At Cleveland, LeBron James scored 35 points, Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 16 and the Cleveland Cavaliers looked sharp in their first game in four days.

The Cavaliers, who hadn't played since snapping a six-game losing streak on Tuesday, had a season-low five turnovers, held Indiana to three field goals over the final 14:36 and 15 points in the fourth.

Reggie Miller scored 29 points -- 14 on free throws -- and Anthony Johnson had 17 for the Pacers.
