Viduka ends Premiership goal drought

MAN OF THE MATCH Middlesbrough's Mark Viduka scored a brace on Monday, his first goals in 12 matches, to inspire his team to a 3-2 victory over Manchester City

Viduka then restored Boro's lead eight minutes into the second half as he played a delightful one-two with Hasselbaink and from just inside the penalty area he toepoked the ball brilliantly past James into the far corner for his fifth goal in seven matches against City.

Hasselbaink got in on the act 10 minutes later, as encouraged by Viduka to have a go with a freekick -- which the Dutchman won by diving theatrically over Dunne's challenge -- he curled it brilliantly into James' far right-hand corner for his seventh of the season.

However, Bradley Wright-Phillips opened the match up again when he made his dramatic entrance as a substitute, swivelling round Cooper and firing past Schwarzer.

Viduka should have had his hat-trick and finally wrapped up the three points with six minutes to go but he miskicked from only meters out with the goal at his mercy from Downing's brilliantly whipped-in low cross.
