Maverick Walker may soon become Hawk, reports say

AP , ATLANTA, GEORGIA

All-Star forward Antoine Walker is headed to the Atlanta Hawks in a four-player deal with the Dallas Mavericks, according to media reports Tuesday.

Jason Terry and Alan Henderson will be sent to Dallas in exchange for Walker and Tony Delk when the deal is finalized Wednesday, according to ESPN.com, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Dallas Morning News, which all cited unidentified sources.

The Hawks will also reportedly receive a future first-round pick.

The NBA office was closed Tuesday, preventing any trade from being completed until Wednesday or later.

Hawks general manager Billy Knight was in Las Vegas on Tuesday for a rookie camp and could not be reached for comment. The team's chief of operations, Bernie Mullin, declined comment when asked about the trade, as did other team officials.

The 2.05cm Walker, who was traded to the Hawks by Boston last summer, can play either forward position. Walker, whose 28th birthday is Aug. 12, has averaged 19.9 points in his career, including 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds last season.

Terry, the Hawks' first-round pick in the 1999 NBA draft, averaged 16.8 points and 5.4 assists last season and will help the Mavericks fill the void left when Steve Nash signed with Phoenix as a free agent in July.
