Enrique Wilson homered and drove in three runs, sparking the Yankees to an 8-3 victory on Sunday over the Texas Rangers and helping New York avoid a three-game sweep in Alex Rodriguez's return to Arlington.
Kenny Lofton opened the game with a triple and scored on the play when a relay throw by Michael Young, A-Rod's replacement at shortstop, bounced into the netting in front of the Yankees' dugout for an error.
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a single, double and two strikeouts, and extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 32, the longest in the majors this season.
White Sox 17, Twins 7
In Minneapolis, Carlos Lee had four hits and drove in six runs, and Miguel Olivo and Juan Uribe hit consecutive homers in an eight-run fourth inning to lead the White Sox.
Aaron Rowand also had four hits, including a three-run homer, and scored four times as the White Sox set season highs for runs and hits (23). Uribe, Magglio Ordonez and Olivo each had three hits and every starter had at least one hit for Chicago.
Red Sox 7, Blue Jays 2
In Boston, David Ortiz had three hits and three RBIs, Tim Wakefield pitched seven solid innings and the Red Sox completed a three-game sweep.
Devil Rays 5, Indians 4,
In St. Petersburg, Florida, Tino Martinez's bases-loaded single in the 10th inning gave Tampa Bay a victory over Cleveland and its first four-game winning streak this season.
Rocco Baldelli hit a one-out double off David Riske (0-2). After Aubrey Huff was intentionally walked and Jose Cruz Jr. walked to load the bases, Martinez lined a single to right on a 1-2 pitch.
Mariners 3, Tigers 1
In Seattle, Freddy Garcia pitched seven strong innings and John Olerud hit a solo home run, leading the Seattle Mariners over the Detroit Tigers.
Olerud led off the seventh with a shot into the Detroit bullpen on a 1-0 pitch from Jeremy Bonderman (4-3). Raul Ibanez drove in two runs, and the Mariners won for only the third time in their last 14 games.
Angels 8, Orioles 3
In Anaheim, California, Vladimir Guerrero homered, Jose Guillen hit a three-run double and the Angels completed a three-game sweep.
Aaron Sele (3-0) allowed three runs -- two earned -- and six hits through five innings. The sweep was the Angels' fifth this season of at least three games, and they have the best record in baseball at 29-15, tying the best start in franchise history, and lead the AL West by 3 1/2 games.
Athletics 3, Royals 2
In Oakland, California, Eric Byrnes singled in the winning run in the 10th and Oakland completed its second three-game sweep of Kansas City in a week.
National Leauge
Tom Glavine came within four outs of the first no-hitter in New York Mets history on Sunday, blanking the Colorado Rockies 4-0 with his first career one-hitter.
Glavine retired his first 18 batters before a leadoff walk in the seventh inning and got two outs in the eighth before Kit Pellow doubled off the right-field wall.
Diamondbacks 4, Marlins 3
In Miami, Randy Johnson followed up his perfect game with seven solid innings, and Arizona beat Dontrelle Willis.
Johnson didn't allow a baserunner until the third inning in his first outing since throwing a perfect game against Atlanta last week, and the Diamondbacks scored four times with two outs in the fifth against Willis (4-3).
Braves 5, Dodgers 1
In Atlanta, Mike Hampton homered and pitched six scoreless innings for his first win of the season, leading Atlanta over Los Angeles.
Reds 7, Astros 0
In Cincinnati, Cory Lidle pitched his third career shutout and Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer in Cincinnati's fifth straight win.
The Reds have won eight of nine, putting together their best surge of the season and pulling into first place in the NL Central.
Brewers 2, Pirates 1
In Pittsburgh, Keith Ginter homered with two outs in the ninth inning to lift Milwaukee over Pittsburgh.
With the game tied at 1, Ginter hit a 3-2 pitch from reliever Brian Meadows (2-1) over the left-center wall for his seventh homer.
Phillies 6, Padres 4
In Philadelphia, Tomas Perez hit a two-run homer and Vicente Padilla won his fourth straight start for Philadelphia.
Padilla (4-4) gave up three runs -- one earned -- and eight hits in six innings. Rheal Cormier and Roberto Hernandez each tossed a scoreless inning.
Jimmy Rollins also homered for the Phillies. Pat Burrell hit a go-ahead single in the fifth and Todd Pratt added a two-run single in the eighth.
