Chiefs edge past Sharks after a TV replay in Super 12

The Sharks were denied a last-minute try by television replay for the Waikato Chiefs to notch a 34-27 upset victory in their Super 12 rugby match at King's Park Stadium on Friday.

Sharks winger Henno Mentz appeared to cross the tryline in the corner but television match official Jonathan Kaplan ruled it a non-try, allowing the Chiefs to preserve a deserved four-try win and climb to fourth in the standings, one spot behind the Sharks after eight rounds.

The Chiefs' defense made a difference, holding off waves of Sharks attacks, forcing turnovers and the Sharks to kick away possession, often aimlessly.
