Detroit Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek will undergo surgery to repair a groin injury next week, his spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Hasek, 39, will leave Detroit later this week and will be operated on in a hospital in the Czech Republic, Petra Obsilova said. She had no other details.
Red Wings spokesman John Hahn said Tuesday that Hasek was flying home to the Czech Republic on Wednesday for the surgery.
Hasek announced Feb. 10 that he would miss the rest of the NHL season. The groin injury limited him to just 14 games after he came out of a one-year retirement.
