Austria's Martin Comploi won the sixth stage of the Tour of Taiwan yesterday, giving his Merida Germany team its fifth victory in the eight-day event.
The tour's overall leader was Merida's Juergen Kottula with a total time of 18 hours, 25 minutes and 48 seconds. The German, who took over the leader's yellow jersey on Sunday, was 18 seconds ahead of Iran's Ghader Mizbani Iranagh of Giant Asia Racing.
Koji Fukushima of Japan's national team was third in the general classification, trailing by one minute and 44 seconds.
Yesterday's stage was a flat 60km criterium -- or lap race -- in Changhua.
Comploi crossed the line in 1:19.19. Just one second behind was stage-one winner and former race leader Kazuyuki Manabe of Japan's national team. He beat Dutchman Francis De Jager of B.R.C. Kennemerland in a photo finish.
