Gilbert Arenas had 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Washington Wizards capitalized on a shoulder injury to Dallas Mavericks guard Steve Nash in a 100-90 victory.
"We wanted to show the NBA that we can be as up-tempo, athletic and aggressive as the Dallas Mavericks," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said. "They're a team we admire because they play a fun, wide-open game, they have scorers all over the place and create different mismatches."
Nash played only seven minutes Wednesday, contributing two points and two assists before leaving in the first quarter with a strained left shoulder. The extent of the injury was not immediately disclosed.
"It got real sore in the first couple minutes of the game, and the rest of the quarter it just got sorer and sorer -- every possession, every movement, every bump," Nash said. "When I came out, I couldn't even make certain movements at all, so there was really no way I could contribute."
Arenas, signed as a free agent in August, recorded Washington's first triple-double since Rod Strickland in April 1999.
