Michael Leighton started in goal for Chicago and stopped 19 of 21 shots. Craig Anderson replaced Leighton midway through the second period and made 11 saves.

Martin Biron went the distance for Buffalo and made 26 saves.

Senators 4, Lightning 3

In Ottawa, Peter Schaefer scored on a penalty shot with 58.6 seconds remaining to give Ottawa a win over Tampa Bay.

Wade Redden scored a power-play goal 5:13 into the third to tie the game at 3.

Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson had a goal and an assist apiece for the Senators. Todd White, who moved from center to left wing for the game to make room on Ottawa's top line for Spezza, had two assists.

Ben Clymer had two goals for Tampa Bay, both set up by linemates Chris Dingman and Martin Cibak. Fredrik Modin also scored for the Lightning, who fell to 3-2-2.

Bruins 3, Red Wings 2

In Worcester, Massachusetts, Mike Knuble scored two goals and Andrew Raycroft made 34 saves to lift Boston over Detroit.

Boston held off Detroit despite power-play goals by Brett Hull and Brendan Shanahan in the final five minutes and seven minor penalties in the third against the Bruins.
