South Sydney beats Melbourne Storm in Rugby League play

South Sydney scored five second-half tries in a 41-14 upset win over Melbourne Storm yesterday in Round 13 of Australia's National Rugby League competition.

The Rabbitohs trailed 20-14 before scoring three tries in 11 minutes in a second-half revival. Five-eighth Owen Craigie kicked a fieldgoal and Andrew Hart capped a big match with a try in the last two minutes.

Penrith improved its record roll to eight wins when the Panthers rallied for a 28-24 win over the North Queensland Cowboys in extra time at Townsville.

The Cowboys led 24-20 with 10 minutes to go in regulation time before Luke Lewis scrumbled in for a last-minute try to equalize and force the golden point rule for only the second time since it was introduced this season.

Secondrower Joe Galuvao secured the win after almost nine minutes of extra time.

League-leading Canberra thrashed Parramatta 50-14, with winger Phil Graham scoring three tries and Jamaal Lolesi crossing twice. Clinton Schifofske, who was overlooked for the Queensland State-Of-Origin lineup, kicked seven goals for the Raiders.

Kiwi halfback Stacy Jones spearheaded the Warriors 23-6 win over Cronulla, scoring a try and landing a field goal at Auckland.

On Friday night the Canterbury Bulldogs scored a 28-18 win over the Sydney Roosters.
