Jarrod Washburn pitched a four-hit ball into the seventh inning on Thursday as the Anaheim Angels beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 2-1.

Washburn (5-5) struck out three, walked three and hit two batters over 6 2-3 innings in improving to 6-1 all-time against Tampa Bay.

Garret Anderson had an RBI single during the Angels two-run, first inning. Anaheim had failed to score in the first in its previous 17 games.

Brad Fullmer had to be restrained near the Angels' dugout after he was ejected by umpire Charlie Reliford after being called out trying to score in the sixth inning.

Reliford ruled Fullmer missed the plate with his hand as he attempted to avoid catcher Toby Hall's tag on Bengie Molina's single.

Fullmer smashed his helmet to the ground and was immediately thrown out of the game by Reliford. He continued yelling at Reliford from the dugout.

    Rangers 8, Orioles 4

In Baltimore, Hank Blalock went 3-for-3, walked twice and scored two runs as Texas ended Baltimore's four-game winning streak.

Ruben Sierra hit a two-run homer in the ninth, helping the Rangers to their ninth win in 11 games.

Blalock boosted his batting average to .359, regaining the American League lead from Baltimore's Melvin Mora, who went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. His average fell three points to .356.

The Orioles were seeking a fifth straight win for the first time since May 2001.

White Sox 3, Blue Jays 2

In Toronto, Esteban Loaiza allowed just two runs in 7 2-3 innings against his former team as Chicago beat Toronto.

Carlos Delgado hit his 16th homer, but he committed two of Toronto's season-high four errors, including one that led to two unearned runs in the fourth inning.

    Mariners 10, Twins 6

In Minneapolis, Bret Boone homered, doubled twice and drove in four runs, and Gil Meche pitched seven-plus strong innings as Seattle beat Minnesota in the first game of a four-game series between the division leaders.

The AL West-leading Mariners tied their season high for hits with 18 and won for the 10th time in 13 games. The Central-leading Twins had won 21 of their last 27 games, including two of three last weekend in Seattle.

    Athletics 6, Royals 1

In Kansas City, Missouri, Mark Mulder tied for the AL lead with his eighth win, pitching the Oakland Athletics over the reeling Kansas City Royals.

Mulder (8-2) improved to 6-0 against Kansas City, allowing eight hits in seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.36, second in the AL to Chicago's Esteban Loaiza (1.96) and pitched at least seven innings for the ninth straight start.

Padres starter Brian Lawrence took a three-hit shutout into the ninth but stumbled as the Milwaukee Brewers beat San Diego 3-2 on Thursday.

The Brewers, who have the National League's second-worst record, took two of three games from the Padres -- the NL's worst team.

The Padres (15-39) lost for the 26th time in 31 games.

Lawrence (3-6) allowed Scott Podsednik to double leading off the ninth, then retired two batters. Brady Clark singled to score Podsednik, took second on a wild pitch and scored the tying run on Wes Helms' double. Helms scored the go-ahead run on Eddie Perez's single, chasing Lawrence.

Leo Estrella (1-0) pitched the eighth and Mike DeJean finished for his 10th save in 13 chances.

    Rockies 12, Dodgers 5

In Denver, Todd Helton had his second career three-homer game and had a career-high six RBIs to lead the Colorado to its fifth straight win over Los Angeles.

Helton hit a two-run homer in the first inning off Odalis Perez (4-3), a solo shot in the fourth against Perez and another two-run homer in the eighth off Eric Gagne. Helton, who has 10 homers this season, also singled in a run in the third.

Helton, who also homered three times at Coors Field on May 1, 2000, had his 22nd multihomer game, his first this season.

    Mets 5, Phillies 0

In Philadelphia, Steve Trachsel pitched 6 2-3 shutout innings as New York blanked a hapless Philadelphia.

Cliff Floyd had a two-run double and Rey Sanchez, Jeromy Burnitz and Tony Clark each had RBI doubles for the Mets, who have won four of six against Philadelphia in two weeks.

Trachsel (4-2) allowed five hits, struck out five and walked three to win his fourth consecutive start.

    Expos 3, Marlins 2

In Miami, Orlando Cabrera's bloop RBI single capped a three-run rally in the seventh inning that carried Montreal over Florida.

Montreal avoided being swept in a four-game series for the first time since 2000.

Florida had won six straight for the first time since Sept. 26 to Oct. 1, 2000.

Montreal's Japanese pitcher Tomo Ohka (4-5) allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings.
