Maybe the organization just can't stand success

What has really upset a segment of Nets ownership is that Lamoriello, with the consent of the team's majority owners, has laid down the law regarding interaction with players. He instituted harsh rules: no more free access to the players, no more flying on the plane with players, no more trying to be friends with the players and enticing them to make appearances for the owners' various charities. This is a business, he reasoned. The players had jobs to do. Allow them to do it without distractions.

This was the right medicine at the right time. The Nets had become addicted to losing and mediocrity. Lamoriello forced the organization to break the addiction, cold turkey.
