Australia takes the series

THE CLINCHER England managed to chase the giants of world cricket to a close finish in the final match of the tri-nations series, but Australia held on to win by five runs

After Australia had skidded to 147 for five, left-hander Hogg produced his match-saving knock.

Hogg figured in crucial stands with tailenders Lee (18) and Andy Bichel (11 not out), helping Australia collect 86 in the last 10 overs.

Spinner Ian Blackwell returned a miserly 0-32 from 10 overs, while Ronnie Irani took 3-46 for England.
