Raptors win despite being shorthanded

Alvin Williams scored 20 points, including four in the final 40 seconds, and handed out eight assists to lead the short-handed Toronto Raptors to a 92-87 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Williams' basket with 38.3 seconds to play Sunday gave the Raptors an 88-87 lead. He added two free throws with 15.5 seconds remaining as Toronto outscored Memphis 8-0 down the stretch.
Vince Carter, who sealed the game with a breakaway dunk with 2 seconds left, led Toronto with 27 points. Antonio Davis scored 14 and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Shane Battier led the Grizzlies with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Jason Williams and Pau Gasol finished with 11 each. Gasol had 10 rebounds.
Pacers 92, Clippers 87
In Los Angeles, Reggie Miller scored 13 of his 20 points in the final 4:51 to lead the Indiana over the injury-depleted Los Angeles Clippers.
In his fourth game back from being sidelined by a bone bruise on his right ankle, the 37-year-old Miller went 7-for-14 from the floor and made two of his seven 3-point tries.
Ron Mercer also scored 20 points for the Pacers (14-2). Ron Artest added 13 points and 12 rebounds as Indiana won its fourth straight.
Elton Brand led the Clippers, losers of eight of their last 11, with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and rookie Marko Jaric had 25 points.
Celtics 95, Hornets 86
In Boston, Paul Pierce scored 30 points and Antoine Walker added 26 as Boston beat New Orleans, which played without All-Star guard Baron Davis for the first time in four seasons.
Davis, the team's second-leading scorer, sat out because of back pain, ending his consecutive games streak at 248. It was the first time Davis has missed a game in his four-year career. He was replaced in the starting lineup by Courtney Alexander.
Jamal Mashburn paced the Hornets with 33 points, while David Wesley had 18. New Orleans was held without a field goal for four minutes late in the fourth quarter.
The Hornets are 2-6 on the road this season and 9-0 at home.
Timberwolves 110, Lakers 107
In Los Angeles, Kevin Garnett had 23 points, 15 rebounds and six assists, and Anthony Peeler scored a season-high 17 points as Minnesota held off the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant had a chance to tie it when he was fouled while taking a 3-point shot with 7.2 seconds left, but after making the first two free throws, he missed the third.
After Minnesota made two free throws, Bryant, guarded closely by Kendall Gill, missed the rim on a wild 3-pointer as time expired.
Shaquille O'Neal led Los Angeles with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Bryant had 22 points and 11 assists for the Lakers (6-12), who are 3-3 since O'Neal returned from the injured list.
The Timberwolves have won five of their last seven.
SuperSonics 96, Nets 95
In Seattle, Brent Barry hit a 3-pointer in the final 3.3 seconds to lift Seattle to a win over New Jersey that broke a three-game losing streak.
Richard Jefferson could have sealed the victory for New Jersey, but missed two foul shots after Desmond Mason pulled the Sonics to 95-93 with a fallaway jumper with 10.5 seconds to go.
Jason Kidd's driving flip shot was blocked by Mason just before the buzzer.
Gary Payton had 28 points and 10 rebounds for Seattle, which had lost six of seven.
Kidd had 27 points to go with eight rebounds and eight assists for the Nets, who had two starters sidelined by injuries in Dikembe Mutombo and Kerry Kittles. Lucious Harris, making his first start in two years, scored 23 points.
Kings 103, Rockets 84
In Sacramento, California, Gerald Wallace had a career-high 21 points and eight rebounds as Sacramento extended its winning streak against Houston to nine games.
Bobby Jackson added 20 points and Chris Webber 19 for the Kings, who improved to 9-0 at home this season. Sacramento has won eight of nine overall.
Steve Francis scored 22 points for the Rockets, who had their two-game winning streak snapped and have lost 12 of 13 to the Kings.
Wallace made 10 of 11 shots, and all five starters scored in double figures for Sacramento.
