Sinon Bulls starter Osvaldo Martinez pitched eight innings last night and led his team past the Brother Elephants 4-1, as he put 11 Ks on the board and tied the league record by striking out six in a row, en route to his ninth win of the season.

On the top of the second the Elephants started their offense by collecting three hits, with one walk issued by Martinez, to score their first run.

Trailing by one at the bottom of the third, the Bulls managed to come back by scoring two runs and take over the lead.

Starting with Tseng Hua-wei (曾華偉), the Bulls produced four consecutive hits as Huang Chung-yee (黃忠義) and Chang Tai-shan (張泰山) each batted in one run.

Another two runs were added in the eighth inning to bring the score up to 4-1, as the Bulls closed out the series with a 2-1 lead over the Elephants.

The three-game series between the teams gathered over NT$3.4 million in gate receipts.

Whales 9, Lions 1

In the last game of the four-game series between the President Lions and the Chinatrust Whales, the Whales' offense went all-out to defeat the Lions. Chen Wen-bin (陳文賓) launched his 21st homerun of the season as the Whales won 9-1.

Kaohsiung Fala and Chiayi Luka fought hard in their series-deciding game at Hualien last night, with Fala taking the game 8-4 with a late surge.

There were three lead changes until the Fala pulled away with three runs on top of the seventh.

Luka's loss puts them in a big hole because they will face the league-leading Taichung Agan three times this week.
