Bulls pitcher Tsai wins again, Fala overcomes Agan

Sinon Bulls starter Tsai Chung-nan (蔡仲南) pitched seven shutout innings as he struck out six and allowed nine hits to lead his team over the President Lions 5-0.

Tsai also earned his 11th win of the season. Among the six strike outs Tsai collected, three were pitched consecutively in the second inning

Lions starter Luis Arroyo was shaky last night after his masterful performance against the Elephants last week.

In five innings of work on the mound against the Bulls in Tainan last night, Arroyo gave up three runs and walked five with six hits including a solo homerun by Kao Chien-lung (高健龍) on the top of the fourth.

Kao's homer, his first of the the season, gave the Bulls the advantage and with three hits and one walk the Bulls scored the third run of the night in the fifth.

On the top of the ninth Huang Chung-yee (黃忠義) hit a two-run home run to the right -- his 13th of the season -- off Lions third reliever Kao Lung-wei (高龍偉) to extend the lead to five runs.

Last night's contest between Kaohsiung Fala and Taichung Agan in Taichung was a closely fought battle until the Fala added an insurance run in the ninth for a 4-2 win.

The game was filled with anticipation because Agan ace Huang Chin-chih started five innings short of breaking the league's record for most innings pitched without surrendering a home run, at 130.

As fate would have it, his attempt to beat the record fell short by just one inning as Fala left fielder Tsai Shih-fang blasted a solo shot in the fifth to end Huang's streak at 134.

The rare loss by Huang was his second of the season, making him 14-2 for the season.

Fala starter Hsu Wen-hsiung got the win for yielding two runs on five hits in six and two-thirds innings. The win gave Fala the edge for the series.
