Competition favorite China, in group C, is set to play Kong Kong, Uzbekistan and the Philippines.
Unlike the recent Baseball World Cup, which saw several of Taiwan's larger cities sharing the limelight and hosting matches, the AFC Asian Women's Soccer Championship will be taking place only in Taiwan's capital.
All first-round matches will be split between the Taipei Municipal Stadium and the Chungshan Stadium.
The semifinals and final will take place on Dec. 14 and 16 respectively, at Taipei's Chungshan Stadium.
This year's women's soccer championship starts today at the Taipei Municipal Stadium, when group B teams Singapore and Japan face off at 1pm and South Korea plays Guam at 3pm.
Local fans will have to wait until 7:30pm to see Taiwan take on Malaysia in its opener at the Chungshan Stadium.
Today's final game sees India and South Korea kicking off at 9:30pm, again at Chungshan Stadium.
Admission to all the games is free.
