But despite the obvious danger of the competition, the crowd and the athletes were focused on having fun.
Eito Yasutoko summed up the camaraderie with praise of the local skaters.
"I found the Taiwanese skaters have improved a lot since two years ago when I first competed here. I truly believe some of them have the potential to become ASA skaters."
