By Jules Quartly  /  CONTRIBUTING REPORTER

Five of the world's top golfers will be coming to Taiwan next month for the first BMW Asian Open and tickets have just gone on sale.

The tournament, which will be held next month at the Westin Resort, Ta Shee Golf and Country Club, is sanctioned by both the European and Asian PGA Tours.

There are hopes that it will be a breakthrough event, pulling in major players on the US, European and Asian tour, on an annual basis.

"BMW is delighted to bring golf fans such a first-class event as the BMW Asian Open to this region," said tournament director Ingo Wirth

"It is especially pleasing following the recent announcement that the event is being joint-sanctioned by the Asian PGA Tour and European Tour which has contributed to us being able to secure some of the biggest names in world golf."

Open champions John Daly, Fiji's Vijay Singh, New Zealander Michael Campbell, England's Nick Faldo and Italy's Costantino Rocca head an international cast at the US$1.5 million tourney on Nov. 22 to 25.

Tickets available at over 200 Era ticketing offices in Taiwan.

The price of daily tickets on Thursday and Friday are NT$300. Tickets on Saturday and Sunday are NT$400. Tickets for the four days are a bargain NT$800. Call Era Ticketing office: (02) 2341-9898.
