Globel trotting: Germany
|
|
Officially adopted in 1918, and banned by Hitler in 1933. Re-established after World War II. However, social decorum meant that citizens never flew the flag, as displays of nationalism were frowned upon. During last year's World Cup, the flag was suddenly seen on cars and from windows. Happily, the German citizens seem to have broken their unfortunate taboo and once more take pride in their flag.
