    San Francisco Guitar Quartet (SFGQ, 舊金山吉他四重奏) has, since its inception in 1997, become one of the most sought-after classical guitar ensembles. The group draws inspiration from varied genres including classical, world and ethnic music. The members of SFGQ, Mark Simons, Christopher Hanford, David Duenas, and Patrick Francis, have each distinguished themselves as soloists and chamber musicians. The program will include music by Brazilian guitarist/composer Paulo Bellinati and American award-winning guitarist/composer Bryan Johanson, as well as original comp-ositions by SFGQ member Patrick Francis. Tickets are available through ERA ticketing. The group will be performing at the Chungli Arts Center (中壢藝術館音樂廳), 16 Chungmei Rd, Chungli City, Taoyuan County (桃園縣中壢市中美路16) tomorrow (free admission), at Sinjhuang City Cultural Center (新莊文化藝術中心), 133 Jhongpin Rd, Sinjhuang City, Taipei County (台北縣新莊市中平路133) on Sunday (tickets cost from NT$200 to NT$350), at National Chiao Tung University Arts Center (交通大學藝文中心), 1001 Ta Hsueh Rd, Hsinchu City (新竹市大學路1001) on Tuesday (tickets cost from NT$100 and NT$200), Providence University Zhishan Hall (靜宜大學至善樓大禮堂), 200 Chungchi Rd, Taichung County (台中縣沙鹿鎮中棲路200) on Wednesday (free admission), and at the National Recital Hall on June 10 (tickets cost from NT$300 to NT$600).

    The annual Taipei Film Festival (第八屆台北電影節) is scheduled to open on June 24, running through July 9 at Zhongshan Hall (中山堂), Shin Kong Cineplex (新光影城), in89 Digital Cinema (in89豪華數位影院) and the Metropolitan Hall (城市舞台). Taking Toronto and Montreal as this year's cities in focus, TTF will screen 60 films, classic and new, from the two cities with Robert LePage as this year's director in focus. There are in total more than 160 feature, documentary, shorts and animation works to be shown in competition and non-competition sections that include global Chinese film and video, a tribute to the Canadian documentary master Allan King, and big hits of the past year on the international film festival circuit. Prizes of up to NT$1 million will be awarded for winners of various sections.
