    Chen denies Sogo voucher charges

    US schools struggle to retain international flavor

    The world premier of Cloud Gate Theater's White X 3 will take place at the National Theater Taipei April 22. Following the groundbreaking and hugely popular Cursive Trilogy, artistic director Lin Hwai-min (林懷民) has embarked on an exploration of the color white through dance, carrying the minimalism of cursive to yet a higher level. In the totally different mood, the program also presents Formosa, Island the Beautiful, an unprecedented cooperation between Cloud Gate and folk singer Kimbo Hu (胡德夫) and aboriginal choreographer Bulareyaung. Tickets for Cloud Gate performances always sell well, so it is advisable to get your tickets early. Performances are at the National Theater April 22 through April 30; Kaohsiung Cultural Center May 5 and May 6; and Taichung's Chungshan Hall May 12 and May 13. Tickets are NT$400 to NT$2,000 and are available through the NTCH ticketing or directly from Cloud Gate.
    Highlight
    2006 International Flute Festival (國際長笛藝術節), will feature a number of world-famous flautists performing together with local artists. Visiting virtuosi include Anders Norell, Robert Aitkin, Shigenori Kudo, Peter-Lukas Graf and Andras Adorjan. To kick the festival off, flautist Rober Aitkin will be giving a lecture and performance tomorrow at Kong Hsue Sheh (功學社企業總部大樓) located at 162Chungshan 2nd Rd, Luchou (蘆洲市中山二路162). This is the first time that Taiwan has hosted this important event, which will provide a wide selection of performances for music lovers. Performances will be held at both the National Concert Hall, Taipei and the Novel Hall (新舞台), 3-1 Songshou Rd, Taipei (台北市松壽路3-1). Performances also in Taichung and Kaohsiung. The festival will kick off Wednesday in both Taipei and Taichung.
