    Oil rig teeters after massive blasts

    The P-36 Petrobras oil drilling platform lists yesterday after three explosions. The oil rig, 220km northeast of Rio de Janeiro, caught fire following the explosions, killing one worker and leaving 10 others missing, but no oil spilled into the sea, Petrobas officials reported. They said 175 people were working on the year-old platform.

    South Taiwan hosts first foreign dignitary

    President Chen Shui-bian welcomed the president of Burkina Faso yesterday morning in Kaohsiung with a military ceremony. This was the first such ceremony conducted by the Navy and held in the south.
