Taichung police launched a search yesterday for the body of a female accountant believed to have been kidnapped and murdered.

Police said the accountant, identified only by her surnamed Ho (), had embezzled more than NT$100 million from the securities company she worked for in Changhwa County.

She was kidnapped in October last year and her whereabouts have remained unknown since then.

Police said two suspects they had detained earlier admitted yesterday to killing Ho back in October. The suspects said they had dumped her body in the Tatu (大肚) mountain area near the border between Taichung and Changhwa counties.

Taichung prosecutor Wang Ching-chieh (王清杰) led a team of police from Taichung City and the Criminal Investigation Bureau in a search for Ho's body at a landfill near Youyuan North Road yesterday.
