The two laws were initially scheduled to be put into force early last year, but were delayed because the legislature had failed to pass minor regulations supporting the two laws in time.
The most important among these minor regulations were those about the reorganization of the office of the chief of the general staff, which had to be passed by the legislature first before the two defense laws could be put into practice.
On Nov. 25 the legislature passed the regulations governing the reorganized office of the chief of the general staff. The Ministry of National Defense has since announced that the two defense laws are to be executed on March 1, marking the beginning of a new military command system.
