With the assistance of the Danish embassyin Tokyo, the Andersen Center at Odense University and the Andersen Museum in Odense, the Japanese company Medialynx has organized an exhibition of original illustrations of Andersen's works as part of preparations for celebrating the bicentennial of his birthday on April 2, 2005.

The exhibition, featuring the work of 15 artists, handwritten manuscripts by Andersen himself, printing blocks and first editions, was first shown at five Japanese museums over the past year.

Andersen's fairy tales such as The Ugly Duckling and The Emperor's New Clothes, have been popular among children in Taiwan. Most of his 164 fairy tales have been translated into Chinese and published in Taiwan.
