Sisy Chen, a former spokeswoman for the DPP, is a popular TV and radio talk-show host. She has continued to host TV and radio programs since winning a legislative seat. Two days later, the incident turned into a controversy about politicians' ability to manipulate the media.
Incoming DPP lawmaker Lo Wen-chia (羅文嘉) accused Chen of benefiting from her double role as a member of the media and a politician.
Sisy Chen said that if the government divests its holdings in TTV and CTS, she would quit her jobs at Power TV and the radio station.
Meanwhile, PFP lawmakers on Friday proposed that the Broadcasting and Television Law (廣播電視法) be amended to force the government and political parties to sell all shares in terrestrial TV.
"There isn't any way to solve the problems by revising regulations. What we have to do is create a different system, which would minimize the involvement of politicians," said lecturer Kuo Li-hsin (郭力昕).
