Also, Power TV, ETTV, SET TV, and FTV were all involved in the production and broadcasting of campaign rallies.

Outside of the broadcast media, the China Times, one of Taiwan's three major dailies, contained a full-page report in its Nov. 21 edition attacking the DPP. After protests by the DPP, the newspaper explained the next day that the page was an advertisement placed by the KMT.

"Most media organizations have tried to hide their position. There was no other report as obvious as the China Times case. That page was a critical point demonstrating the sinking of Taiwan's media," said Chen Ping-hong (陳炳宏), an associate professor at National Taiwan Normal University's Graduate Institute of Mass Communications.

Discussing the media's next step, Kuo emphasized that the media should think about the role they play in society.
