The government said yesterday it would cooperate with the US in investigating a US$100 million software piracy case.
"We will contact Los Angeles police on Monday to get details of the case. The US has judicial sovereignty over the case," a Bureau of Criminal Investigation official told the Broadcasting Corporation of China.
On Friday, Los Angeles police announced the largest seizure of counterfeit software in US history, including a container of faked copies of programs for Microsoft Windows.
Federal investigators and police said a syndicate operating in Taiwan and the Los Angeles area had tried to ship the pirated software to Los Angeles by bribing an undercover agent posing as a US Customs Service official.
Police arrested three suspects, including Lisa Chen from Taiwan, who works in Los Angeles.
The crackdown followed an 18-month sting operation.
