Intellectuals with good education backgrounds but who are naive, could easily fall prey to conmen and tricksters in Taiwan society, New Party Legislator Lai Shyh-bao (
Lai, a finance professor-turned-legislator, said he spoke from his years of experience receiving complaints from the general public about all kinds of economic crime cases.
He said educated people lacking in social experience are the group most likely to fall prey to fraudsters or tricksters, sometimes losing a lot of money as a result.
Lai revealed his findings in his new book You Can Avoid Being Duped, which was launched yesterday in a book-signing held at the Legislature Yuan.
