It is not a question of whether in reality Taiwan has crossed that line or not. The question is whether Beijing thinks Taiwan has crossed that line. The ambiguity in Taiwan's sense of identity has led to misunderstandings in Beijing, and that is why I have been recommending that people be very careful.
