The government hopes to create 55,000 jobs by developing the domestic tourism industry, according to the Council for Economic Planning and Development.
The council has drafted a plan to develop domestic tourism -- an area the Executive Yuan has emphasized is an important task involving national reconstruction.
The council suggests the government invests NT$50 billion in the sector over the next three years. It expects that the private sector will invest NT$200 billion. By creating more jobs in the sector, the jobless problems in some remote areas can be addressed.
