As Toraji left Taiwan yesterday, the three generators in Taipei County gradually increased their electricity output.
"The three will function normally tomorrow," said Huang Huei-yu (
The No.1 generator at the First Nuclear Power Plant has an output of 636MW electricity, while the Second Nuclear Power Plant's generators have a total capacity of 1,970MW.
Huang said that two generators with a total capacity of 1,902MW at the Third Nuclear Power Plant (核三) were not affected by Typhoon Toraji.
Taipower officials also said yesterday that Typhoon Toraji affected the electricity grid across the island, leaving 342,350 families in several counties without power.
A superhigh voltage tower near Chushan (竹山) township in Nantou County was affected by the flood, disconnecting a number of transmission lines installed between Chungliao (中寮) and Lungchi (龍崎).
Taipower technicians and workers successfully fixed the problems, bringing the power supply back to 297,000 families yesterday.
More than 300 families were left stranded without electricity in Tewen village, Pingtung County, and roads were blocked to the area.
Taipower officials said that they hope to ensure an adequate power supply to all users today.
