Health insurance body strikes back

RESPONSE The caretakers of the National Health Insurance Project say the fund is in good hands and that the problems raised by the PFP are being taken care of

"The bureau will take further action if the negotiations with local governments regarding the debts fail," she said.

Last week the Department of Health (衛生署) said it might bring administrative lawsuits against these local governments because "every other possible way to press for payment has failed."

Lin and Chen further urged the bureau to control the abuse of medical resources.

Liu said that the bureau has been improving public health education to individuals and medical institutions.

"Some people wrongly believe that all diseases can be completely cured in a short time and will go `hospital shopping' when they lose faith in a doctor who fails to cure them immediately," he said.
