Spouse of former TTV anchor claims she was abused, files for divorce

The wife of former TTV anchor Dai Chung-jen (戴忠仁) filed a request for divorce with the Taipei District Court yesterday as media reports circulated that the anchorman is a spouse abuser.

Han Cheng-min (韓王爭敏), five months' pregnant, filed the suit with the court yesterday and said her reason for wanting a divorce was that she could not tolerate Dai's abuse any longer. In her suit, Han also requested custody of her children.

Dai, whose position has recently been switched from anchor to senior producer, filed a report to the police in mid June after his wife disappeared with their two children.

In the wake of the disappearance, Han's mother has spoken out against Dai, accusing him of having mentally and physically abused his wife. However, Dai denied the allegations of violence.

Oddly, Dai filed a request for a restraining order with the court on June 13 despite the allegations that he is the abuser. The TV personality later withdrew the request.

Recently, Dai was accused of having sexually harassed an anchorwoman by news department supervisor Chen Ching-hsi (陳清喜).
