The bureaus of labor affairs of both Taichung and Kaohsiung city governments have questioned whether the pink slips violated the Labor Standards Law, since the newspaper's output and circulation remained unchanged. The Kaohsiung bureau has organized a committee to investigate accusations that the dismissals were illegal.
The dismissed editors are planning to protest against two investment groups at the CKS International airport today as representatives of the groups depart for China. The groups have been organized by the Commercial Times, a China Times-affiliated newspaper.
