A man who recently faked a bank robbery to get a free meal in prison has struck again, local media reported yesterday.
Lin Feng-nian (林豐年), a 40-year-old unemployed man, had entered a bank in central Taiwan without any weapons on Oct. 10, national day, and shouted that it was a robbery, but later admitted to police he only wanted a free prison meal, local media reported.
Then, just after Christmas, Lin entered a shop in the same area but armed with a kitchen knife this time, again shouted that it was a robbery and demanded money, the report said. However, after a shop assistant reached for a mop and screamed at him, Lin fled and went straight to the nearest police station to turn himself in.
He denied that he was again looking for a free prison meal and was later released on bail.
