Editor and army official fail to answer subpoena

By Jou Ying-cheng  /  STAFF REPORTER

The prosecutor probing leaks of classified information regarding the investigation into the murder of ROC Navy Captain Yin Ching-feng (尹清楓) yesterday summonsed two witnesses from the media and the military police for questioning.

However, Hsiang Kuo-ning (項國寧), editor in chief of the United Daily News, did not show up and the summonsed major general of the military police was represented by a major.

However, Prosecutor Huang Chuan-lu (黃全祿), in charge of the case at Taipei District Prosecutors' Office, said the questioning was fruitful.

"A crucial piece of the puzzle has been fitted into place," Huang said. He said that the questioning of another media representative and a public official is expected today.

As the intensive investigation into Yin's murder and related arms-procurement corruption cases proceeded over the past two weeks, certain classified information regarding the case has been published in the media.

The information leaked included the list of names of high-ranking military officials that were targeted in an earlier investigation.
