Chen arrived at the Kaohsiung airport from Hong Kong yesterday on a China Airlines flight.
Speaking to reporters, Yen reiterated his innocence and said he was willing to face prosecutors' investigation.
"I am not a tiger. I am a human being," said Yen.
Yen left for Hong Kong on Aug. 3, soon after prosecutors from the Black Gold Investigation Center raided Chenlan Temple in Taichung County. Yen is the current chairman of the temple.
Yen also denied yesterday that he was involved in any of the alleged irregularities at the temple, including abusing government land and charging rentals to vendors, and a financial scandal surrounding the construction of the temple's administrative and cultural office building.
Yen also said that his departure on Aug. 3 was "coincidental." Apart from demanding a clarification from the authorities for targeting him, Yen also apologized to followers of the goddess Matsu for having tarnished Chenlan Temple's reputation.
