New ministers learning the ropes

BACK TO SCHOOL The wet-behind-the-ears ministers had a rough week at the hands of legislators, but most are taking the beating as a learning experience

The row prompted Tzeng to offer a humble apology to the majority KMT legislators to win their sympathy and stave off their initial intention to force him from his post.

"Such fracases have become part of life [in the legislature], and the ministers need to be very careful," observed DPP legislator Lee Ying-yuan (李應元). "There is no way for the DPP to act like a real ruling party, since we don't have enough votes."
