Nuclear activists seek new EIA

ENERGY In a bid to force an end to continued construction of the controversial Fourth Nuclear Power Plant, environmentalists said there may still be a way to tackle the issue on a legal basis; by forcing another environmental impact assessment

Kao Cheng-yan (高成炎), the main organizer of the demonstration, said he had discussed with Lin the idea of conducting another EIA.

"We are sure that Lin, our long-term comrade in confronting unsound energy policies, will work with us to judge whether construction should continue based on an improper EIA," said Kao, a former TEPU chairperson.

"This would be a `legal' method to halt the construction of the plant," said Kao.
