MARGINALIZATION Having finally put national interest ahead of self-interest, the National Assembly voted to marginalize itself in a move even the deputies themselves have come to see as their best option

Tsai Cheng-yuan (蔡正元), secretary-general of the KMT caucus, said the KMT simply complied with the majority of public opinion, as the Assembly's marginalization was supported by more than 70 percent of the people in opinion polls.
"The KMT's resolve was backed by a strong basis of public opinion," Tsai said.
