Premier-designate Tang Fei (
Though still staying at the intensive care unit, Tang was in very good shape the day after he underwent the two-hour operation. Shao told the media that Tang was able to get out of bed, and eat normally. In addition, the results of all check ups on his blood pressure, pulses and breath appeared normal.
Tang had a 2cm cyst removed from his thymus gland during an operation on Sunday. After the surgery, the next Cabinet leader is making a satisfactory recovery, and he has been in good spirits, the doctor said.
According to the initial report, the cyst was likely benign in nature. But in order to further clarify the issue of the tumor, the biopsy results are expected to be released in one or two days.
Shao said Tang would be transferred to a regular ward today. However, "The patient needs sufficient rest. It will take a few days before he can completely recuperate his strength." said Shao.
