Almost a half century after its establishment, the China Youth Corps (CYC, 中國青年反共救國團) is going to change its old Chinese name -- which means the "China Youth Anti-Communists Nation Salvation Corps" -- to something more in keeping with the times.
Though no new names have been discussed as yet, the CYC passed a resolution yesterday to change the organization's title at an assembly.
"This is a valuable proposal," said Chu Huei-sun (朱匯森), the convener of the Instruction Committee of the CYC.
Chai Sung-lin (柴松林), another member of the committee, also gave his support
The CYC was established by former President Chang Ching-kuo (蔣經國) in 1952 to organize military training for high school and college students.
