A student who claimed she was sexually harassed by a professor at National Taipei University of Technology (
The woman, identified only as Ms A, claims she reported the incident last May, and told reporters at yesterday's news conference that over the past year she suffered mistreatment by officials at both the university and the Ministry of Education.
Ms A claimed the school had tried to shelve the investigation into the case and tried to persuade her to give up her fight.
"Isn't a school supposed to protect students who get hurt [on campus]?" she said, adding that she is disappointed with the school's lack of action on the sexual harassment case. She also criticized the education ministry for its decision not to release its own report on investigations into the allegations.
Under pressure from women's groups, the ministry later released the report.
In response to the Control Yuan's belated resolution demanding that the education ministry and the university act to punish relevant officials for misconduct, Ms A said it is hard for those who never experience such fear and despair to understand what she has gone through.
"I've decided to go to law school," the woman said, adding she wants to help other people who suffer similar pain fight for justice.
