DPP legislator Lin Cho-shui (林濁水) said he remembered having to carry newspapers with him to the newsstands to use as a cover for the tang wai magazines he wanted to purchase.
"The owner of the newsstand would first carefully scrutinize my appearance to make sure I was not a government agent, and then he would hand over the magazines I wanted from the place where he was hiding them," Lin recalled.
